Mike Adkins is a northwest native that comes from a long racing blood line dating back over 65 years! It is evident Mike has passion for success on-the-track and off-the-track in all aspects of racing. The racing blood line continued with Mike’s father who raced modified and sprints spanning four decades at all the great northwest legendary tracks. Mike’s father is also the one of the founding fathers of Washington Economy Sprint Organization (WESCO) which was formed in 1994. WESCO is one of the most versatile sprint car organizations which run on dirt and pavement tracks, with the wing and without the wing. Mike learned all aspects of motorsports from his father.
Mike started driving in the fall of 1992, when he was able to drive his Dad’s car at Elma Speedway. In 1994 Mike was able to race full time after completed his schooling earning a degree from Washington State University. With a limited budget and home built sprint car by his father, Mike earned Most Improved Driver.
In 1996, Mike bought his first new sprint car. This would be an all-star season for Mike with the new equipment. He finished 3rd in overall drivers points while setting a new track record at St. Helens Oregon, and topped it off by winning the Best Appearing race car. Mike continued to race with WESCO while dreaming of competing in the prestigious United States Auto Club (USAC) Silver Crown Series.
