The event was started in 2009 as a Tribute to Sherm Toller who was an ambassador for dirt track racing for most of his life. Sherm's enthusiasm for the sport was contagious and ultimately led him to being the colorful infield announcer. Sherm started his love for racing by being involved in the Ernie Purcell Speedway and as a member of the Nevada Racing Association.....this race is usually the first race of the season in Northern California, with all the events run at Marysville Raceway Park....
